Within the intimate and dark space, the floating whiteness of constructions was illuminated by the tiny projector, I created a diorama that the audience conformed their bodies and eye levels to interact with. Shadow play on the back wall as the image within the theatre traversed the cut out space in the shape of the word “personal”. This piece is expressive in how all the bodies were constantly in motion, speaking to a distracted mood of alienation, solitude, anonymity, time passing and in between spaces. How does “personal” mean in the context of it leaking out of a protected environment? What gets left behind? What happened to the things that are eventually left behind? Do the things left behind hold more weight as “personal” since they now exist only in a memory state?
