Between two worlds

Between two worlds, 2022,  2 x 4’’ pine, drywall, joint compound, needle, thread, 110 x 96 x 5.5’’

I built a split wall in my studio space. Here I explored the reciprocal nature and logics inherent with the act of seeing, particularly how seeing is active, and the meanings imprinted to which is seen. This is a piece that exists at an inch and 10 feet concurrently, simultaneously directing viewers to either go past it or move closer. The subtle disruption separates and unites the two parts of the room while occupying a definitional space in between. The distinction between object and subject, inside and outside becomes convoluted. Through weaving into the wall, I experimented with mending and tying together disparate materials to create new forms and connections.
